FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions to help you get started with Cofence.

Who is Cofence for?

Cofence is for everyone who participates in fencing tournaments. That includes the athletes, but coaches and other accompanying people can also greatly take advantage of it.

Why was Cofence developed?

The initial idea was to be able to receive notifications for upcoming fights, since you then would not need to look through all tournament data to see when you need to fence again. From there, the idea evolved further to having a more filtered view, until we eventually ended up with Cofence.
In addition, we are always open for improvement ideas. See Contact for getting in touch with us.

What are the advantages of Cofence?

Cofence provides a clean interface which shows you only the information you need on a tournament. In addition, it can send you notifications about upcoming fights, so you are never late again. Cofence is also not only useful for fencers, but also for coaches or other accompanying people.

What does Cofence cost?

Cofence is currently 3.99€ on the Google Play Store and on the Apple App Store. See Download for more infos.

Why is Cofence not free?

Cofence is currently being developed only by me (David Ganz) and I have spent a lot of time on it.

Who developed Cofence?

Cofence was developed only be me (David Ganz – david072). I am a 16 year old student from Germany who works on projects like this in his free time.

Which data is Cofence based upon?

Cofence currently pulls its data from fencingworldwide.com and dartagnan.com. I am in no way associated with Fencing Worldwide (Ophardt) or d’Artagnan, meaning I am not responsible for the data displayed by the app. This also means that the app might display wrong information, if Fencing Worldwide (Ophardt) or d’Artagnan themselves display wrong information.
If a tournament is not hosted on one of these platforms1, the app is not going to be able to display it.

  1. This might be the case even if the tournament is visible on e.g. Fencing Worldwide. In that case, you can check which site you are redirected to when you click the tournament. ↩︎
Which features are planned?

Cofence is still being developed on. We are constantly looking for ways to improve the app, bugs to fix and overall how to make the tournament experience with Cofence even better. If you have any suggestions, take a look at Contact to share your ideas with us!

I have a problem with the app. Why is that and who do I contact?

If the app displays wrong information, always check the website first. The app provides numerous ways to open the corresponding website (three dots => Open Website on the tournament page or a long press on the tournament row). Since the app does not collect its own data and only displays the data from the websites, if the websites show wrong information the app will to. This is an easy first thing to check.

If your problem does not have anything to do with that, we would love to hear from you! See the Contact page for more details and we will get back to you as soon as possible!

I have been experiencing an issue with the app for a bit now, but there’s no update. Why is this?

If you have already reported the issue (but please don’t report it multiple times), it might just take a few more days. As Cofence is being developed and maintained by a single person, issues might not get fixed as quickly as you might expect. You can read more about this on the About Us page. As such, it might take multiple days until an update is released, however I will always try to fix issues as quickly as possible!
